All sorts of tips

--Have pre-made group or pair sheets that group high and high students, low-high students, etc.  Colour code it so you know, but not so any one else does.
--Write the students a note each morning to encourage them and tell them that they can do it, they can succeed today
--Let the kids figure out some the techy problems on their own; don't always jump right in and help or explain it
--Write directions or a question on the board for students to answer while filing into class.
          -Helps students focus/refocus on topic
-The teacher doesn't have to calm everyone down to focus--they're already quiet and calm
-Gives the teacher info about the students
-Give it a time limit, so that you don't read copious amounts of work
          -Collect in a journal
--Give feedback orally through a recording
-May be able to give more feedback orally than written and then the students have to choose to to listen to it to understand their grade.
--Highlight a section and grade only that of a paper
-Students never know which paragraph it will be
-Keeps the teacher from having to spend all that time on grading
--Have a stamp created that cannot be duplicated
-Above average, average, below averaged -- stamped on the page on top, middle, or bottom to correlate
--Have each student present something at the beginning of class.  Make sure that they know that they are in charge of being in the front of the class, prepared, and set to when the bell rings.
